Getting a mammography regularly is important to maintain good health. This non-invasive test can help your Physician evaluate changes in your breasts and can help them detect changes that your Physician cannot feel.
A mammography is recommended annually for women age 50 and over.
The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms for women age 40-50
The National Cancer Institute recommends that this age group get a mammogram every 1-2 years
Your Physician may recommend getting a mammogram before the age of 40 or more regularly if you have a family history of breast cancer or other types of cancer, or show physical symptoms of breast cancer such as lumps, breast pain, skin dimpling and nipple discharge.
Barton Memorial Hospital's Mammography Department is equiped with Mammopad. This new technology provides the following:
Mammopad Technology creates a softer, warmer mammogram
Significant reduction in discomfort for 70% of users
