Make a Donation to the Foundation!
Barton Memorial Hospital Foundation was formed and incorporated as an autonomous 501(C) 3 non-profit Nevada Corporation in October 1990. The purpose of this organization is: "We are committed to building a culture of inspired philanthropy creating strong relationships between donors and the Barton HealthCare System, leaving a legacy for a healthier community." All funds are used to benefit medical care provided through the Barton HealthCare System as approved by the Board of Trustees.
Beginning in 1991 with the Charter Heartbeat Drive, the Foundation has progressed in reaching each milestone. From building Endowment Funds to generating funds for Capital Improvements, over $1.5 million has been given to further Barton Hospital's commitment to the health and wellness of our communities.
The Foundation expresses a long-term vision of Barton and its associated facilities in California and Nevada. Through your donations we are able to promote needed health care programs, quality services, community services and state-of-the-art technology.
The Foundation Vision can only continue through the valued support of those who care the most....You. Supporting the Foundation's effort is easy. Your contribution will make a difference. From pledging any size gift to establishing a trust, your generous donations will support our many needed programs.
The Barton Memorial Hospital Foundation is led by a group of 24 community volunteers, serving 3-year terms as members of the Board of Trustees. This board oversees the direction and provides the guidance to the staff and volunteers. Board members evaluate and approve projects, special events, fund raising concepts and expenditure of donor gifts. The board operates under regulations of the Internal Revenue Service as well as state guidelines. Although the board appears independent and separate from the Barton Hospital Board of Directors, they are ultimately accountable to the Hospital Board.
In 2003, Barton Memorial Hospital Foundation received an estate gift from the Hanan Family Trust, arranged by Bill and Ruth Hanan. The gift totaled $231,000. The impact of this undesignated gift allows the foundation an opportunity to build the Endowment Fund as well as assist the Healing Design Project.
