An electrocardiogram, typically known as an EKG is a test that measures the electric signals from the heart. An electrocardiogram may help in diagnosing evidence of heart enlargement, signs of insufficient blood flow to the heart, signs of a new or previous injury to the heart, heart rhythm problems, changes in electrical activity of the heart and signs of inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart. Barton also offers a Stress EKG which monitors the heart’s response to an increased need for oxygen. This test is typically performed on a treadmill or a stationary bicycle.
